hooray for active old men
First order of business: there is an East Central Civic Association of Shaw (ECCA) meeting tonight (Monday) at 7pm at the Third Baptist Church at 5th and Q St., NW. Light refreshments served! Sadly I have class tonght so I can't be there.
Hooray for scruffy old men like Brett Favre (37 - "my age!") who became the NFL's all-time leader in career touchdown passes this weekend:

I'm still surprised I had such a good time at the Megadeth concert last night. It was a refreshing change from the urban rut I've been in I guess. Dipping into different crowds and worlds is good for you and gives useful perspective. Do something you wouldn't normally do this month. I have an outfit for you that will help - her name is Charlene Hilton.

Brett Farve is one month younger that Rob (Rob is 38) But looks way older than Rob or most folk I know who are in their mid 40s. I guess its how you treat yourself.And how youfeel
But I think Henry Rollins is way sexier than Brett Farve.
I never bought this crap about once your over 25 your life goes down hill and your old after 30 (what is this LOGAN'S RUN? Then again I never buy anything from the "gay Collective"

Enjoy your 30s! That's an order. Once you hit 40 the number of men (in their 40s) who only want younger, leaner, smoother goes up (perhaps because men in their 40s are older, fatter, and hairier).

Hey, there was an article in the news claming that 60 is the new 40 which makes me 21! Woo hoo! I'd go out drinking to celebrate but I'm afraid I'd fall asleep around 9:00PM.

Life ending at 25? Piffle. I am much more interested in men with great experiences in life and character lines on their faces. Of course, it doesn't hurt if the character lines are covered by a nice beard and 'stache. I'm staring down the barrel of 50 right now. Onward, fearlessly!

Dont waste your time with the ECCA meetings. They are not a true community organization, they are a circus and are run by a cruel former ANC chair who, after losing the ANC chair this year, quickly took power of the ECCA as his new playground. The ANC2CO2 web forum has this post about what happened at the latest meeting:
"During his Monday night meeting, ECCA President Leroy Thorpe baited a conversation opining that a local resident, who he has known for years, needed to "get a girlfriend." When the male resident acknowledged that he was not heterosexual, the ECCA Board and a few members of the audience erupted into derisive scoffing laughter displaying their maturity and opinion of the matter."
Doesn't seem like a place you'd want to be, does it? The organization is dying a slow death, and ceased to be representative of this community long ago. Few people really attend anymore.
