the evolution of style

La Femina Rojo
Here's one of my City of Heroes characters, La Femina Rojo (The Red Lady), currently a 20th level scrapper (natural) with super-speed and kung-fu kicks. She resides on the Protector server. I'll have to say, matching a superhero costume with red hair is a pain in the ass, lemme tell ya, as seen in her first two costume designs. But last night she got a new costume slot with a cape, and I think I spent a hour working on it. The costume options in the game are a wet dream for anyone who likes any of the fashionista reality shows on TV. Her makeover consisted of a smart mod bob, peach highlights to the hair, and a sort of future femme-Flash look to match her powers. Behold, and despair in the glow of her couture!

La Femina is based on a real-life super-speedy girl named Salsa Juarez, pictured at right. Both can run fast! Perhaps Salsa is the out-of-costume guise of the superhero.

A few of my male characters are pictured below, from various servers::
the boys
- Alpha Ant: tech blaster, fire/energy
- Big Bad Woof: magic defender, weather/sonic
- Captain Crunk: mutation controller, mental/healing
- Geardagh: magic tanker, earth/earth
- The Green Bay Packer: natural tanker, ice/invulnerability
- Tiny Troll: mutation corruptor, vines 'n spines (City of Villains)

the upgrade is definitely the hottest, the bob and the legs mmm. and i like the fact that her arms are crossed looking badass and hiding the melon boobs. the cape is delightfully artful. kudos!

It's been a while since i had spanish class, but i do believe her name should, at the very least, be La Femina RojA, if not La Mujer Roja... Yah, I just looked it up on googlebabelator and i'm right. She don't know stinkin gringo spanglish name. ;)

You silly WOW wardrobe queen.

Love the makeover, honey ...

And the cape, too, although you know what Edna Mode has to say about capes and super-heroes.

But those epaulettes - shoulder pads - horns from hell thingies ...

They simply MUST go.

Or at least tone them down a bit.

For god's sake, if not for the fashion faux pas, then at least for the wind resistance.

If you are going to make her run in high-heeled super boots, those horns must be a real drag.

Just sayin ...

Jimbo, let me give you some day-walker fashion tips....as a rule us redheads usually don't look good in most reds or pinks, but we can do oranges (at least I can). The pale skin types go best with dark colors and earth tones. I usually go with maroon, blues and green (my fav color).

LOVE your new outfit for her, replete with cape. She looks like a kick-ass version of Milla Jovovich.

Her boobs are enormous. Does she fall over a lot?

you know if someone just stumbled into this blog they might assume you were gay from this post : )

Personally I love the cape but is it useful? like does she rip off a strand and tie-up bad guys? Is it a net? and should someone with super speed really wear heels?

You have too much time on your hands.

That said, I like the shorter hair-do. Long hair just gets in the way, as I'm discovering with letting my hair go long. It gets in your mouth when you're eating, caught in crap, etc.

I agree with SA on the no capes thing. Capes are so mid 20th Century. Go with dusters or any other long flared coat or just lose the cape period.

I say your superherione pads her bra. That or she doesn't run.

I'm crushin on the Gearhead, the Packer, the Captain and the Wolf.

Pray tell what is a tanker?

Just askin.

And for the record, those vicious epaulette things work/look better on Insect Adam than Senorita Rosa.

Just sayin.

Hmm, that Salsa Juarez, she looks familiar. Can't put my finger on it....

Ms. Rojo does appear to have confused her bullet bra with Joan Collins-era shoulder pads, but if they're made out of metal they could come in handy in a fight. I see her in silver and green, though.

i'd go with La Mujer Roja, yes.

I'm going to give this CoH stuff another go, especially after getting my connection speed upgraded. If only the women didn't have such ridiculous body shapes, I'd be much happier.

The evolution of her costume looks like pre- vs. post-Cockrum Legion of Superheroes. Think Saturn Girl or Shadow Lass.
