LASIK pre-op appointment
"Ohmigawd! Like I can't see and my pupils are sooo big!"
This morning I went in to see if I am a candidate for LASIK eye surgery, and I am. The doc could have spared me the song-and-dance dog-and-pony show to sell it to me. Long before going in I was aware of how much it might cost, the risks, and how the procedure would go. Thanks to several of my readers, I am well-informed on the topic.
(And thanks to many more, today I feel more special, less needy, and loved today too, thanks.)
I will be getting the procedure done in late July. I will provide pictures of me with the cool sunglasses they give you after the surgery.
But the drops that they give you to map your cornea have my pupils dilated larger than they ever were at any evening at Nation. The sky...it BURNS my eyesesss, My Precious!!! As it is I can barely read or type, but I have the most bitchin' pair of sunglasses on today at my desk while I work (and blog).
And today, just because it's World Cup soccer time and all that lately, a re-posted picture of Sweden's soccer scruff captain, Olof Mellberg:
I wonder if he's playing in the World Cup?

Despite all my excellent eyeball artwork, you're still going through with it, eh? I'd love to get rid of my glasses, but the thought of someone blading my eyes...ewwwwwww. Seriously, Jimbo, the people I know who have had the procedure are very pleased with the results as I know you will be...

I looked at the newer techniques and I still am not interested. It's just too much money, and I want a guarantee that I can take to the bank. You only get one set of eyes, and it's not like a kidney where you can spare one or replace it when it fails. Having said that, good luck to you.
Olof Mellberg is Swedish, and don't you forget it! Actually he's the team captain, and didn't do such a good job against T&T. He needs make up for it. Go to this link http://www.dn.se/DNet/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=2326&a=543731, then go to the link under "Truppen" and the link labeled Bildspel.

Pullease do only one eye at a time, just in case, and please do the followup for preventing infection afterwards. Complications result from not doing this. Remember your mom once was a medical transcriptionist. One eye at a time is medical insurance.

This morning I scratched my left cornea while putting in my contacts. As I was walking to work, pollen must've gotten trapped under the contact in my right eye. As I blindly stumbled the remaining two blocks to work, I knew something had to be done. But what? Of course, jimbo.info has the answer.
This is also a magnificent solution to my problem of having 5 grand too much in savings... How convenient.
BTW - who are you going to?

Lurker momentarily delurking - LASIK is probably the best thing I have ever spent money on. I don't have perfect vision (now very slightly farsighted, but I really don't notice), but it is so much better than before. The fears are completely legit, but the risks are small - it seemed worth it to me, and it has been. And I did it five years ago, before prices dropped. Absolutely no regrets. Just don't go cheap - pay for an experienced doc.
