cheer the turtle

Congrats to the Lady Terrapins for their exciting overtime 78-75 National championship win against Duke. Naturally, the students rioted last night near campus. Expel every one of them. Frankly, I don't see any need to destroy property due to any win or loss in a sporting event, and I suspect few of the rioters even knew Maryland had a women's basketball team until late March. Rioting is for bored/boring people with feeble imaginations. Get rid of the morons and the academic quality of the university will go up, I guarantee.

But one student had an astute comment on the riot police coverage:

"I guess the riot police don't think women's fans were good enough for horses." - Erin Brennan, Maryland Student.

Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold recently said he decided to express his support for gay marriage in response to what he called a "mean-spirited" Wisconsin constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage and civil unions, which will appear on the state ballot in November. I'm surprised to see an anti-marriage initiative even gaining steam there. By and large most Wisconsin natives have a pretty fair "live and let live" attitude, unlike me and my righteous opinions, most Cheeseheads hardly give a shit as long as you're doing your thing well. Must be another bunch of loonies that got an iota of power and it went straight to their heads.

Super-cute animal of the day: FAT BABY HIPPO!!!

Russ Feingold is how I envision politicians should be. Plus he's hot.

I am totally with you about the idiocy of riot behavior after sports victories. WaPo had some choice quotes:

1. "Shea Hoxie, 21, a senior majoring in government and politics and criminology, said: 'I was disappointed we didn't flip over the bus....'"

I love the fact that a criminology major wanted to engage in mob mentality behavior.

2. "Armon Emdad, 19, said he was opposed to the idea of disorder. 'It doesn't make sense to destroy your own campus,' he said. But he told a reporter he intended to join last night's crowd anyway.

It doesn't make sense, but who said I have to make sense? Let's go burn some tires, yo!

Rioters should be shot. With paintballs. But if you use paintballs aim for the head.

Better yet, shoot them with cameras. Proof that they're rioting. Makes it easier to expel them with proof.
