arboretum death march

Today we went to the National Arboretum to view the azaleas in bloom:
a cacophony of color
It was a cacophony of color. There were also plenty of really old bonsai trees to view, and the herb garden which smelled funny. We also spotted an orchard oriole, bluebird and many rufous-sided towhees telling us to "drink-your-TEA!" The azaleas are really purdy though, you should go see them. Speaking of purdy:
a cacophony of scandanavians
I used Zipcar for the first time in going to the Arboretum, it worked pretty well. Tomorrow we are going to Annapolis for some good chowder and may try to cruise hot officers at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Wow, those are beautiful pictures and, holy crap, I went to Clemson! Didn't play Rugby though.

But truly, great pics!

I need to use the word cacaphony more often. Aren't rufous-sided towhees the most dangerous of all songbirds?

During the week is a good time to see the azaleas. I couldn't go this past weekend for various reasons but made a quick drive through the previous weekend (best the schedule would allow). The were blooming...a little. Weekends when the azaleas are in bloom are insane at the Arboretum.

Did you get to see the lilacs? I doubt they're still in bloom but they were pretty impressive...and plentiful!

I expect the herb garden is getting good so I'm due for another visit. And I'm sure the koi are, as usual, hungry. Hope the staff has the food dispensers full.

What a stunning picture! Makes me want to jump right in with the flowers!

Know what I'll be doing on my next free weekend.
