shallow gay dc voters demand cute mayoral candidates
As the DC mayoral race heats up between Mr. Orange, Mr. Blackberry and Mrs. Cropp (in the billiard room with a candlestick), I reminisce back to the last election for DC city council, where a dreamy, 24-year old Sam Brooks ran, but failed in his bid. Mr. Brooks, wouldn't this be an opportune time to run again? I'm not saying the other candidates are butt-ugly, but it would please me to see your sparkly smile out there again. 'swoon!'
An unrelated Scott Brooks is showing his artwork at Gallery Neptune through October 1. I'm no art critic, but I like it as his work reminds me of the droopy love child of Norman Rockwell and Tony DiTerlizzi.
You queens kill me... on a typical post about scruff, woof, etc. I'll get the usual suspects commenting on such things. But when I make a shout out for skin care tips or furniture advice, I get just as many, if not more, gay commenters coming out of the woodwork to share. Commenters who normally lurk around reading, who seem to by DYING to tell me how to decorate. I'm not bitching, it just strikes me as funny. Anyhow, 9 out of 10 homos prefer Leksvik style furniture, but on the advice of one homo furniture advisor, I found this lovely mission-style cocktail table. Again, I agonize...this time it's Leksvik vs. Mission.

I still like the Leksvik best. I tend to prefer contemporary, and as someone with more magazines than sense, it would be ideal.

Ummm, I don't like either of those. They don't look very sturdy/hardy. Must be the Pacific Northwest woodsman in me.

Without a doubt Mission!

I don't know, mission-style furniture is very late 80's early 90's. My uncle's (who is surprisingly straight given his line of work and excellent taste) furniture company offers a wide range of occasional tables and accessories. I'll send you some examples. Could probably get you a good deal, too, what with being his nephew and all. So, just to clarify, are you redecorating the manse in the country or the townhouse?

I had a mission coffee table I bought at Lowe's. After I loaned it to my straight friend for a year, with his numerous cup rings, I stripped the sucker and painted it enchilada red. So, it's mod yet traditional. Plus, while Ikea looks cool, it's made cheap. You could do lots of naughty things on my sturdy oak coffee table.

I don't know nothing about the table. But the boy politician is cute

Mission. Sturdy and simple, and the politician will be impressed by your straight-forward sensibilities as well as its ability to support his body weight.

Tony DiTerlizzi is a genius!

We're not shallow, we just figure if there's a good chance of them being incompetent, we might as well have something nice to look at for four years.
I have the Leksvik, it's really good at resisting burn marks from hot dishes.

Being an owner of a handmade mequite mission-style coffee table myself, I vote mission! And this inspired me to try and take/post a pic of said table within the next day or two.

Mission. Down with IKEA

If a Non-Ikea Alternative is avaiable without sacrifice of quality for value then I say you should have a Mission!
It is funny that, in my case, I read and read, nodding or shaking my head, without comment, but can't get the box open fast enough to put my two style cents on the line.
Which table could you stand on to change a lightbulb?

Sometimes I like to take the mission position.
Baby.

He may be 24, but he needs eye cream.
