Surge of Power - March 18 @ DCJCC

Surge of Power: The Stuff of Heroes is a campy action-adventure story of an original comic book superhero. It pays tribute and homage to many films, television programs, and comic books in the science-fiction and fantasy genres. And also an all-new high for low-budget camp! And like ohmigawd! it features Lou Ferrigno from The Incredible Hulk and Nichelle Nichols from the original Star Trek!!!

Surge of Power will play Friday, March 18 at 7 & 9pm at the DC Jewish Community Center at 16th & Q St., NW DC. The film is presented by One In Ten's Reel Affirmations film series. (Like, my roomate does all kinds of stuff for them).

No more City of Heroes online gaming for this gay director/actor (who will be appearing at the screening, in costume, fyi):

And I don't know who this queen (Bobby Trendy) is, but she's in the film and I already think I love her:
playing an evil queen?

Fuckin' Christ! I think Bobby Trendy is the evil interior decorator from the fisrt season of the Anna Nichole show.

yep. that was him. evil decorator on the pre-trim spa anna nicole show.

Bobby Trendy is indeed from the Anna Nicole show.

Check out his website for the most atrocious home interiors this side of Liberace.

She sure is. And she looks pretty good, post face-sandblasting.

Jimbo, how come you can't be as masculine as Bobby Trendy?

I'm wondering how in the heck this movie got made? All things considered it's got some pretty high production value and a cast with experience. And 35mm film ain't cheap either.

Oh my... thought Bobby Trendy used up all his 15 minutes with Anna Nicole! He should be interesting in a train-wreck sort of way... enjoy!

I guess I missed Bobby Trendy the first time, and I'm eager to see her the 1st time around. I love her. She looks bitchy and dumb.

OK, you never said what your costume is? Are you dressing as a known super hero or original?

Nichelle Nicholes! She rocks! I met her about 10 years at a convention. I got an autograph photo of her as Uhura and a nice hug as well :-)

I never heard of the game "City if Heroes" until a couple of weeks ago. I have been involved with World of Warcraft.

Trev Broudy (also in the film) is an actor that was gay-bashed in West Hollywood a couple years ago- glad to see he's recovered enough to get some work.

What's up with the baggy pants on the gay superheroes? In my mind, fantasies, etc, superheroes always wear tights! Did someone forget to tell them that skimpy and/or tight-fitting outfits are mandatory in this profession? I think it might be a union issue. . .
