the joys of vertical gardening

clearly in violation of safety regulations
When you live in DC, gardening space is limited, so why not try vertical gardening? The only way is up in my case, and the vines have grown all the way to the 2nd floor of our house. I'm gonna have a bumper crop of ornamental gourds this fall due to all the rains, and I count at least 5 acorn squash.
it's an acorn squash!

I tried acorn squash the other day and I could not believe it was so good. Boiled it for a while then split it open to covered it with butter. mmmmm

try mixing a little brown sugar in with the butter next time, even yummier. those sunflowers are out of control. rad.

A nesting pair of goldfinches have learned about my sunflowers for 3 summers now. They are always out there munching, and LOVE the small sunflower seeds.
