giant turtle breaches campus wall
Tuckered out from today's interview, which lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes. It was with the chair of the department at the University of Maryland. He did the talking about 95% of the time, but I managed to get some relevant gems about myself in where appropriate. I'm hoping he was sharing his vision of the position to give me a good idea of how it's going to be for ME, but we'll see within a week or so. Afterwards I had a snack with Chrisafer's significant other Bubbles. Why don't we call them 'Squirt and Bubbles' today, shall we?
At the entrance to the university was a breach in the brick wall surrounding the campus which had been made by a truck accident a few weeks before. They had concealed the breach with an amusing banner depicting the same wall, but with a giant, Godzilla-sized turtle breaking through the breach. An excellent use of PR and humour instead of a boring 'Under Construction' sign. And any university featuring a statue of Kermit and Jim Henson is OK in my book.
I called up Peace Corps about the job I was lusting over and interviewed for a while back, and they assured me the decision had been made and that I would be informed by mail within a week. That didn't sound promising. So ends the interviews which were the fruits of my labor during the month and a half of job searching I had at the end of my last job. Eeek!
