hurricane isabel

There's a bit of a panic situation in DC (suprise!) due to the hurricane, but I'm doubting we'll get more than high winds and a lot of rain. Metrorail closed, which prompted the Federal government to close and some other orgs as well...even Gurl gets off from work today at GW! I'm guessing rugby will be cancelled tonight as well. I'm hoping the gym is open at least!

Last week on the discount rack I found the soundtrack to the film Dangerous Minds, most famous for the 1995 hit 'Gangsta's Paradise' by Coolio. It was funny going to a disco in Kazakstan and watching the local Russians and Kazaks frontin' and maxin' to the tune. However, it features one song called 'It's Alright' by the now defunct group Sista, written by none other than Missy Elliott. Her style was distinct even back then. It also features one of the last dying gasps from Wendy and Lisa, formerly of Prince's Revolution, a morose tune called 'This Is The Life'.

what ever happened to those 2? i used to follow them for a while and then they vanished...

however, i did see sheila e. the other day on the new show in the style network (an E! affiliate) as a judge in the new reality series "style court". a far cry from her drum solo in 'sign o the times'
