an offer...

Holee shit...just got a call and an offer for that job in Madison, Wisconsin. However, the salary offer leaves something to be desired. Anyone know of a salary comparison table/website? Must...do...math. Must...make...difficult...life...decision.

Try salary.com or monster.com. If I remember, both have salary comparisons. Also, don't forget to check for cost of living comparisons. The Madison Chamber of Commerce might have something along those lines.

A tough decision there buddy, but it's rare that people find jobs that combine things that they love doing.

Course, I'm probably not the best one to be giving career advice. Ha!

I just went to the HotJobs site. They have a calculator...it said if you make $50,000 in DC you need to make $27,900 in Madison...so the cost of living is considerably less. (The New York to Madison comparison is $50,000 = $13,874...wow) Further comparison, NYC to DC $50,000 to $24,863 or less than half...I'm living in the wrong city. So, analagously...NYC is to DC as DC is to Madison...roughly.

although the calculator that I used puts $50K in DC worth $39K in Madison, so be careful...

it all depends on how low the salary really is, I suppose, and how cheap you can find housing
