gay gangs, darts & leather
From this week's Washington Blade. Looks like House of Revlon and House of Illusion are at it again:
Gang violence erupts outside gay clubs on O Street, SE
More than a dozen men menaced one another with hunting knives, baseball bats and tire irons about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, on the unit block of O Street, SE, following a dispute between two rival gay male social clubs that critics say resemble street gangs. One man belonging to one of the groups, known as "houses," was reportedly stabbed at another location, where the dispute began, then beaten at the O Street location, where six adult-oriented clubs catering mostly to gay men are located, according to witnesses. The rival factions fled the block after a police helicopter hovered overhead beaming a searchlight onto the street and a police car arrived, said one witness, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The incident marked the second time in two years that violence has broken out between rival groups on the unit block of O Street, SE. In June 2000, a man believed to have been a member of the House of Illusions allegedly shot and wounded a member of the House of Revlon on the block as startled pedestrians ducked for cover. First District Police detective Lee Littlejohn said the victim claimed not to know the identity of his attacker and refused to cooperate in the police investigation into the shooting. Witnesses said the latest incident began outside Wet, a nearby gay club on L Street, SE, during its Tuesday night "Hot Chocolate" party, which features nude male dancers for a largely African-American gay male audience.
We've come a long way, baby.
D.C. Eagle patrons among victims in dart attacks
Three patrons of the D.C. Eagle, a gay bar at 639 New York Avenue, NW, were among at least 10 people in the District who were struck by dart-like projectiles fired by unidentified youths in a moving car Sunday night, July 14. Sgt. Brett Parson, director of the Police Departmentís Gay & Lesbian Liaison Unit, said the Eagle patrons were hit with six-inch long, razor-sharp projectiles at separate times and locations between 9:30 and 11 p.m. as they walked to or from the popular gay bar. Like other victims hit by the projectiles, they were treated and released at area hospitals, Parson said. Police spokesperson Joe Gentile said investigators were unsure whether the projectiles came from a blowgun or an instrument used to insert nails into wood. Gentile said the other victims were struck at locations in Georgetown and Adams Morgan. He said the victims were hit in the arm, stomach and buttocks. Parson said the attack against the Eagle patrons appeared to have been random and not a deliberate targeting of gays.
According to the Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition handbook, darts cause 1d4 points of damage. Considering that the patrons hit by the darts were likely wearing leather armor, they had a minimum Armor Class of 12. Most of the victims were probably low-level Illusionists (no connection to members of the House of Illusion, btw) or Rouges, they may have been seriously threatened by the horrible dart attacks.

House of Illusion and House of Revlon? What the Hell? Who ever heard of rival gay male social clubs. Who the hell do they admit as members?

They admit Salsa Juarez, Nellie Olson and Agnes Moorehead.
I've actually seen one group of these gangs walking down Pennsylvania Ave., near Mr. Henry's. It's a group of constantly vogueing, fey, flamboyant African American kids. Hardly the type you'd think to wield hunting knives and tire irons.

This begs the question, "If you were going to start a 'house,' what would it be called?"
I think I'd go for "House of Velour." I just like the way it sounds.

Mine would be 'House of Prada' or maybe 'House of Crinaline'.

for most people reading this, they seem to only see on side of the house seen. the groups were really desiged for drag queens and pagets shows for competion. and the one house that had the most trophies were the best of all in all areas of competiotn for realness. It is hard to belive that somthing that can be so posative has turned to somthing more negative. houses are a family not a gang. we are saposed to be a family group, there for others when the rest of the world has turned there backs on the fastly grownig gay population in the dc area. because most of the mebers are so young they seem to carry the tendensy to mix high school clicks and rivelry with visious street life that always seems to hover over the heads of blacks and ohter minorety groups in america. I wish that the children would really get their acts together. so many people already have a bad reputation of homosexuals, and they really dont seem to care what kind of cradentuals you have. for the world to see us as hormongers and and imoral trash we continue to allow our selfs to get cought up in the fast lane of this life style..... all that glitters aint gold. and all that skin teeth aint yo friend or family. these people are out for blood and they dont care about anyhting anymore. I hate to see this go on, i have to many frineds that have had near death experinces with this life style. and i wish more people would have caution. There is nothing wrong with houses or the ballroom scene. it is just like joining a frat group or a loge. the house is a organization that conducts biusness justlike any other organization. we collect dues and meet freguently to discuss the obsticals that have been brought tho the forfront. these false acusations must be made clear to the public that we are not gang members, but leaders that have great sensorship, and are growing strong to helps those in our community. the house that i am currnetly trying to join, votes u in by one meber of that house. But to maintain status in this u must hold a REAL JOB or attend a school to obtain a higher education. We need a leader, some who will rise in our darkest hour in these present days. THE REAL TRUTH HAS TO BE PUT OUT THERE FOR THE WORLD TO SEE, for if it insnt the general public will never accept us for who we are and we will never move on as a people.

I was a member of the House of Illusions and was there before and after the drama. Many people seem to blame the Illusions for the incident. It begin as a personal vendetta between a prospect for our house and a former partner of his who had now become a Revlon. According to all sides The Revlon boy was beaten up by the Illusion prospect at a club long before over the Revlon stealing his identity and buying several items of merchandise in his name. At that time the Revlon could do nothing because he was not yet a Revlon. After joining a house and seeing the Illusion prospect outside of a ball as I witnessed (He started wrapping a brick in a T-shirt and coming towards the Illusion prospect wielding the brick with Revlons close behind) The Illusion prospect ran for his life and the Illusions seeing he was being chased ran to his defense. nothing occured at this point and was supposed to be dropped but I am not the one to say which members started it back up but it but it seemed that from within our house there were people lying to the Revlons about us. Being a member of the board we discussed not having this image and for our prospect to straighten things out before he became a member. Talks did nothing as promises were broken by members of both Houses and Heads of the houses trying to resolve everything peacefully. Fights went back and forth from Baltimore to DC until it ended in someone getting shot. The House of Illusion-Phaee' tried to regroup after this but since that is not what the house was about, many board members and kids left the house. Finally the overseer closed the house. The House of Illusions was set to make a big step in the ball scene. Just not in that way and are not happy with the shooting incident.

how does one become a member? do you get sex from all the gang members, or just a few??? I would be interested in such an initiation. only if he had a small dick.
