In my lifetime I’ve seen many great live music performances. I’ve seen almost everything I’ve wanted to see so far: Mötley Crüe, Kiss (sans makeup), Prince (3 times), Donna Summer, George Michael, Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper, Olivia Newton-John, Madonna, Janet, Scissor Sisters, Kylie, Indigo Girls, LaRoux, Rufus Wainwright, RuPaul, Seal, Melissa Etheridge, Shiela E, Sting, U2, Annie Lennox, Bob Mould, Rich Morel, GWAR, Crystal Waters, Des’ree, The Go Gos, Hercvles And Love Affair, Kelis, and Kelly.

I haven’t seen Grace Jones live yet but I would like to before she dessicates entirely. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head and from my iPod playlist, but there may be more. Despite all the big name acts, this week I had the best concert experience of my lifetime, and that’s saying a lot. I went up to Baltimore Tuesday night to see Robyn at Ram’s Head Live, and she was on top of her game and absolutely flawless. What’s great about Robyn is that she is sincere, genuine and gives everything to her performance for you. You get the feeling she’s throwing a party and you’re all very welcome and she’s happy you’re there. Plus she did all my favorites. I was high as a kite from the experience although the whiskey and Red Bull may have helped a lot. >; ) Anyway, if she comes to your town I guarantee you will see a good show that is so much fun.

I am going snowboarding this weekend at SNÖ Mountain, somewhat near Scranton, PA. It looks like the powder will be rad.

The best concerts I’ve ever seen have been surprises – not that I didn’t like the artists, just that I didn’t expect them to blow me away with their live performances. Interestingly, all 3 were at 930 Club (Lucinda Williams, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Patti Smith). Every one of those was just an utterly amazing evening that I expected to be just good. You never know.

One artist makes me “best concert” and “worst concert” list: kd lang.

And Silliest Concert Ever had to be the double bill of A Flock Of Seagulls and The Fixx. (In their prime!)

Robyn is playing in a 1,500 seat(general admission) place in Houston, TX on February 16th. I wanna go. The tickets are only $30. I was surprised.

  3. brettcajun says:

Whoops. I meant February 19th on a Saturday. Wanna go?

  4. ryan charisma says:

I’m seeing Robyn on Saturday here in NYC at Radiocity Music Hall!

    Woo Hoo!

  5. homer says:

You really need to go see Avett Brothers. Great music and lots of beards.

  6. Blobby says:

I’m kind of stuck on Motely Crew. Maybe you shouldn’t have led w/that.

I keep hearing about Robyn but have never sought her out to listen, but I see she’s playing the HoB here (1200 capacity) soon.

  7. Trey says:

Robyn was awesome, but her opening act was tragic. Some kind of power twink in gold lame tights? Please stop. Please.

I brought a co-worker to the concert and now she’s hooked on Robyn as well. 😉

The BF and I have tickets for Katy Perry so I’ll see Robyn again then. So psyched!

  8. Neil says:

Wasn’t able to see her hear last week as work was crazy and just couldn’t manage a trip to Mtl with a return time of 3:00am :( Judging by her staying power I am sure I will have the chance again one day.

Best concert I have seen would be a toss-up between Goldfrapp (one BIG but intimate party) and Annie Lennox as all she needs is a mic and a light with a voice like hers.

Madonna’s Confessions Tour was a huge, amazing spectacle fur sure, but was also pretty cold in terms of connecting with the audience…ONJ was the opposite and continually talked to the audience and looked people in the eyes (I think she actually stole a little of my soul but I don’t mind).

  9. Casey says:

I expect Grace Jones’ steady diet of oysters, champagne and the souls of the living will keep her supple until the end of days. But yes, I do hope to see her performing while we both share this plane of existence.

  10. wondermann says:

Wow, you have seen a lot
