Bear rescues bear from drowning. Scroll down and click on the video for woofy footage of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission biologist Adam Warwick after the word from the sponsors. Note to urban Bears: do not try this at home just because you think you look like that biologist. And you are not one with another species by virtue of title nor are you a strong black woman. The avian evolutionary tree has just been shook up: mitochondrial DNA research discovers much of how we classify birds is wrong. Parrots share a more common ancestor with songbirds; as do falcons, no longer putting them together with hawks. And hummingbirds are more closely related to nighthawks than previously thought.

I do like your little 'EXIT' tiara. Very festive.

Maybe not botox, but sunburn? (I say this only as one with a melanin deficiency.)

Best line from the story about the MO levees: "With all the guns in this county, couldn't we kill a muskrat?" Having been to Lincoln County, I can confirm that that woman is NOT KIDDING about the number of guns there.

Best. Links. Ever. The mayfly-inspired biosensor is the coolest think I've seen this year (and the engineer is kinda hot, too). The bear biologist was definitely woofy, and I enjoyed is interaction with the totally dippy reporter.

As for the deliberate hookworm infection- Ew. Just ew. I guess I'm not sufficiently committed to science. NO WAY am I ever doing anything like that. Ever.

Well, for those who are oogied out by the hookworm idea, I saw a news story today about a probe that heats up the nasal membranes somehow and it can do wonders in dealing with allergies. Insurance even covers it.

As for the pic of you and Aaron, Henry's "exit tiara" gave me the giggles.
