back to the bitter cold and eternal darkness of DC

I made it back from Florida in one piece, with no help from Midwest snowstorms that delayed the flight. Good thing I got lots of sleep on the vacation, as there wasn't much to be had last night.

Fortunately I had the foresight to buy the book version of I Am Legend, which was a bit different than the movie. I liked the movie but after reading the story it was clear the moviemakers felt the need to produce an Americanized version of 28 Days Later, with just a nod to the work by Richard Matheson. The edition I bought also had a collection of his short stories, and I was surprised to find what inspired the Trilogy of Terror movie classic featuring Karen Black as a woman besieged by a Zuni Warrior fetish doll. The short story version is called "Prey" if you want to look it up. That movie adaptation was a lot closer to the original than the Will Smith film, which I still liked.
Some more covers, the first compliments of Michelle: Carolyn Scott & Rookie the golden retriever do Sandra Dee and Donnie Zuko at the Eukanuba Doggie Dance-Off. America's got talent but O.N-J's blood curdles.
Douche Bag John Rocker as Creed lead singer Scott Strapp feat. Hose Cansenco on backup.
Tired, trapped, but tan on the Tampa airport shuttle for a short time:

I'm still so psyched that the Zuni Fetish Doll is still for sale. Got mine last year:

I was in DC last week. It hit 70 on Wednesday, and my colleagues and I meeting at U MD ate lunch outside. We had highs in the 50s and 60s every day. I found the weather delightful. Then I came back to Chicago with lows temps below zero and winbd chills of -30 with lots of snow. I'll take the "bitter cold" of DC any day over what we have been having here lately.
I am adjusting to the move from Georgia to North Carolina. There is a definite lack o' green here, but I do know spring is around the corner. I can already feel it!
Hang in there it is just around the corner for DC too. Welcome home and I am happy to read you had a good time... and a tan.
My other half flew into DC last night. He said it was miserably cold with icy road conditions. I think the White Witch Jadis has been vacationing in DC while away from Narnia.
Jimbo, that gull/sun pic is awesome! I've got to upgrade to that model Cannon before I go to the Maine coast this summer.
