Dancing paperclips, ray-guns, Tijuana & the Spice Girls

I witnessed an electromagnetic phenomena on my commute home this evening:
Dancing Clippy on a MetroRail Car
While I was travelling southbound on the Green Line from the College Park Metrorail station en route to the Shaw/Howard station, I noticed something moving on the floor between the doors in the very center of the car. It was a dancing paperclip. Every time the train accelerated, one end of the paperclip would rise, then fall as the train reached peak velocity or slowed. I'm assuming there's an electromagnetic field just below the very center of the train car, possibly due to the spinning axle of the train. Put a paperclip where I show Clippy in the photo and see if it works for you. I'm totally not bullshitting you on this.

Today we had our holiday staff party, and I won this strange device that reminded me of Barbarella's ray-gun:
Barrberrella
It appears to be some kind of fancy Jetsons screwdriver, with interchangeable heads cleverly set in the barrel and grip of the gun. Fitz is burning with envy.

My brother lives in an RV, which broke down in Tijuana during his annual holiday surfing trip. There could be worse places to break down:
Tijuana beach
OMG the Spice Girls will indeed be coming to DC on February 21. Looks like I'll have to save up my pennies before then.

I thought the paperclip thing had something to do with the hot rail. Admittedly, I'm not at all knowledgeable on things pertaining to electricity or magnets, so I shouldn't even be leaving a post. I'll ask my dad when I'm home -- he used to be an engineer and knows these things.

That picture of Tijuana is amazing. I've been to Tijuana, I don't remember it looking like that.

Damn right I am! Ask them where they got it!

Yeah, that's not the Tijuana I remember, either. All I remember is lots of "pharmacies" and running from the po-po...something about a hustler and well, what happens in TJ, stays in TJ.

Is that carpet on your train?!? How fancy : -) If they put carpet on the trains here I'm sure that people would rip it up and try to put it in their house....or else the homeless people would steal it to line their cardboard boxes...

Dancing paper clips, the Spice Girls, and the House of Clinton…yup, the 90’s are coming back. Let’s avoid the Macarena this time though.

Tell Ginger Spice hello for me. The closest they're coming to me is Chicago. That tool gun totally goes with your eyes.

Gotta say, looks more like Laguna than Tijuana, IMO

Jimbo, that lumberjack-hot beard! Looks like you're ready to audition for a revival of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers."

Wow, no one made any "tiny tool" comments? Actually, that gadget it totally cool and I want one. Imagine a whole line of normal tools done up in a sci-fi or fantasy motif? I'm no tool-boy but I'd totally buy a set of those.
